Community Council

The Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center (SNBC) is a community resource that brings diverse people together and facilitates their civic involvement.

Since establishing itself in 1996, SNBC has engaged youth, parents, community members, businesses, neighborhood leaders and local policymakers in the SNBC Community Council.  Currently, the SNBC Community Council is on hiatus.  However, past goals and responsibilities have included:

  • Have both youth and adult members, and be a Community Council that represents the diversity found within the Sunset community.
  • Engage members of the Sunset community who have been underrepresented in SNBC's collaborative relationships and programming.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the resources SNBC's various programs makes available to the community.
  • Help SNBC identify resources and partners within the neighborhood that will support and enhance SNBC programs, allowing SNBC to better serve the community.
  • Interface more closely with the planning and execution of SNBC programs and events.
  • Serve as an advisory body that provides input on SNBC's school-based and community-based community programming.
